The Iranian Medical Physics Association was founded in May 1991, with the motivation of improving the quality and organizing specialized activities in medical physics, at the first Iranian Medical Physics Congress, which was held in cooperation with Iranian medical physics professors and specialists at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and was named IRANIAN MEDICAL PHYSICS ASSOCIATION. The chairman of the congress was Dr. Hossein Sadeghi Shoja and the secretary of the congress was Dr. Khalil Gholipour Khalili. This memorable and rich congress was very well received by all participants, so much so that in order to achieve greater cohesion, empathy and cooperation among those involved in the field of medical physics in Iran, a scientific forum was formed at that time and was included in the agenda of 17 medical physics professors from universities across Iran who had gathered in Hamedan to review and plan master's and doctoral courses in medical physics.
